New tenant for prominent Bradford city centre building

A HOUSING company has revealed plans to move from its current location into Bradford city centre.

Accent Housing is currently based in a large office building in Baildon, but earlier this year the company announced it would sell these headquarters and move to a new location.

The company has this week told the Telegraph & Argus that from early next year it will be based in Scorex House, a large office building near The Broadway shopping centre.

It said the move will be a “new chapter” for the company, and involve a flexible workspace, where staff can switch between home and office working.

The organisation, which began in Bradford in 1966, is currently working on the £18.5 million redevelopment of Ripleyville.

Details of the move were revealed on the Government’s Contract Finder website, where Accent is advertising for a contractor to work on “delivering an exciting and functional office space for Accent employees and key stakeholders to work from in Bradford”.

Accent has confirmed this office space will be in Scorex House, on Bolton Road.

The company said the flexible nature of the new office space meant it could not give a figure on how many staff would be using the facility at any given time, but said any of the company’s 450 employees would be able to use the space.

A spokesman for Accent said: “Accent Housing are excited about the upcoming move to a new city centre office space. This will be a new chapter for Accent and allow our staff to work on an agile basis, both from home and an office hub.

“A city centre location was chosen for accessibility reasons, with Scorex House having excellent transport links. With both Bradford Interchange and Forster Square stations a short walk away from the property, this will strengthen Accent’s aims of meeting our green credentials.

“A smaller office space will have lower overhead cost and maintenance and offers better value for money. We are looking to create an engaging space with flexible workspaces mirroring the success of our new Peterborough office.

“We anticipate being able to take possession in October, and will then refurbish the office to deliver a functional and modern environment.

“We anticipate that colleagues will start to use the new office space in February 2024.“

Scorex House is also the home of the Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership. The Partnership told the T&A that it only occupies part of the building.

A spokesperson said: “Our lease is unaffected by Accent Housing’s plan to lease part of the building.”
