More than £800 has been raised in Bradford to support international disaster relief work.
A fundraising event was held at Tesco Great Horton, organised by the Rotary Adventurers group, to support ShelterBox and Aqua Box—two charities providing emergency shelter and clean water following disasters like Hurricane Melissa.
In total, £821.33 was raised thanks to customer donations at the collection space provided by the Tesco Extra Great Horton Roads community champion and staff.
Aneela Ahmed, president of Rotary Adventurers, said: “It was a wonderful opportunity to involve volunteers and engage Tesco customers, whose willingness to support humanitarian causes was outstanding.”
Hurricane Melissa was the strongest storm of 2025 and the first Category 5 hurricane to strike Jamaica directly.
ShelterBox and Aqua Box have been involved in delivering aid, including shelter and safe drinking water, to those affected.
Ms Ahmed extended her thanks to those who made the event possible, including Rotarians, Peace Fellows, the Windrush Generations UK team, and Chain of Hope volunteers.
She also praised Nigel S Guy MBE, who co-led the team.
The funds will be divided evenly between ShelterBox and Aqua Box.
