Playgrounds are at the heart of Incommunities’ latest investments in neighbourhood improvements.
The Bradford-based housing association has spent £50,000 upgrading play areas across the city, with major improvements at its Fagley Park site.
The investment supports Incommunities’ goal of building thriving neighbourhoods where safe, engaging spaces contribute to community wellbeing.
Patrick Collins, Director of Communities at Incommunities, said: “Investing in places where people want to live is just as important as investing in homes.
“We wanted local people to help shape these improvements, and the response we received showed just how much these spaces matter to the community.
“The new facilities at Fagley are designed for a wide range of ages and abilities.
“The inclusive swing, outdoor gym equipment and additional play features mean there is now something for younger children, teenagers and families to enjoy together.
“It’s been fantastic to see the playground so well used since it reopened.
“We want our neighbourhoods to have safe, welcoming spaces where people can come together, be active and build a stronger sense of community.”
Fagley Park, one of the largest play areas owned by Incommunities, already included zones for juniors and infants, a multi-use games area, and a dedicated space for teenage girls.
Incommunities consulted directly with residents to determine priorities for the latest upgrades, who identified an inclusive net swing and outdoor gym equipment as top choices.
Working within budget, the housing association also delivered a new roundabout, seesaw and specialist safety surfacing.
The revamped park is already attracting children, teenagers, parents and local schools throughout the day.
Incommunities believes the improvements will not only support play and social connection but also foster greater community ownership, helping deter vandalism and antisocial behaviour.
A new playground has also been completed at Crosley Wood, replacing the previous facility that was removed during a redevelopment.
The new play area sits alongside new affordable homes and was developed in consultation with developers and customers.
Councillor Ian Walker, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Communities, praised the scheme.
He said: “Engaging with our residents so that they have a say in how they improve local spaces is really important.
