EARNING between school runs and storytime is becoming more realistic for parents.
New research by CV-Library reveals a range of flexible careers offering salaries of up to £55,000 a year as families balance childcare with the need to earn during the summer holidays.
Online tutoring topped the list, offering an average annual salary of £55,148 and more than 55,000 UK vacancies in the past year.
The role is especially attractive to parents because it allows them to deliver lessons remotely at times that fit around family routines.
In second place was the role of virtual assistant, with an average salary of £45,132 and more than 178,000 job postings.
Uber driver came third with average earnings of £40,677.
Katie Emerton, a recruitment expert at CV-Library, said: “The good news is that flexible working is no longer limited to a handful of careers.
“There’s now a growing range of roles that can be done remotely, full-time or part-time, giving parents the freedom to work around school holidays and family life without being tied to the traditional nine-to-five.
“Whether it’s tutoring online in the evenings, supporting businesses as a virtual assistant, or managing social media accounts, there are plenty of opportunities for parents to earn, while achieving a better work-life balance.”

Other roles in the top 10 include social media manager (£36,343), proofreader (£36,108), and copywriter/freelance writer (£34,479).
The research analysed UK job market data between May 2025 and June 2026 and ranked positions by average advertised salary.
