Bradford restaurant raises thousands of pounds for two charities

A charity night at a Bradford restaurant has raised nearly £8,000 for two important causes.

The Massimo family, who run Mamma Mia in Bradford, hosted the sold-out event in November to mark their 40th anniversary.

It raised £7,745, which will be split evenly between The Burns Unit and dementia charity Bradford Memories.

Leno Massimo, head chef and nephew of the restaurant’s founder, said: “Bradford City players and legends, the founder of Northern Monk, and many other important figures from Bradford attended and were incredibly generous with their donations.

“It was truly heartfelt. In total, we raised £7,745,00 which will be split 50/50 between the two charities.

“We’re overwhelmed by the amount raised and extremely proud of everyone involved.

“It was amazing to see Bradford come together and create such a meaningful event for our 40-year anniversary.”

The Burns Unit was chosen to commemorate 40 years since the fire at Valley Parade, while Bradford Memories was selected in honour of the family’s Nonna.

Mamma Mia has been a fixture in Upper Piccadilly since 1985.
