TWO brothers say a new service is designed to provide a lifeline to the disabled and people with mobility issues.
Abdul Waqar and Abdul Gafar have launched Wheelchair Accessible Private Hire.
“We witnessed first-hand how a shortage of accessible transport was affecting some of the most vulnerable members of the community,” says Mr Gafar.
“We have already supported passengers who had previously struggled to attend hospital appointments, family visits, funerals, celebrations and community events.”
Mr Gafar also owns Sand Street Autos, a Keighley-based UK-wide dealer in wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
“Through this work I’ve met numerous individuals who felt forced to purchase their own adapted vehicles due to a lack of options,” he says.
“In response to this need, our service also allows people to hire wheelchair-accessible vehicles on a long-term basis.
“We have a genuine desire to ensure no one in Keighley or the wider district is left behind due to mobility limitations.”
