AN empty former charity shop could soon become a historic Bradford street’s latest drinking venue.

A planning application has been submitted to turn the British Heart Foundation unit on Ivegate, in Bradford City Centre, into a bar.

The application, submitted by Altrincham based HMG, calls for permission to also use the unit an A3 (restaurant and cafe) and A2 (financial and professional services) planning use as well as a drinking venue.

If approved, the new business would create two full time and six part time jobs.

The charity vacated the unit earlier this month.

In June British Heart Foundation was given planning permission to refurbish the Honest Freddy’s discount store on Kirkgate into a new charity shop.

A number of new bars have recently opened on the street – one of Bradford’s oldest roads.

These include the Drum Winder, created in a former pound shop, the re-opening of the Old Crown and a new wine bar opposite the application site.

A decision on the new planning application is expected to be made by Bradford Council next month.
