TWO Aire Valley nursing homes are throwing their doors open for Christmas and inviting older people, who will be spending the big day alone, to enjoy a free festive lunch as well as a fantastic day of celebrations.
Currergate Nursing Home in Steeton, and Beanlands Nursing Home in Cross Hills, will both be serving a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings from 12noon on Christmas Day. The homes are owned and operated by Saltaire-based Czajka Care Group, and anyone wanting to book a place should call the company’s office on 01274 599564.
Konrad Czajka, managing director at Czajka Care Group, said: “Christmas is always a special time across all our homes, with lots of events and parties taking place. However, we know this time of year can also be a struggle for those people who live alone, have recently lost a partner, or whose families live a long way away and can’t be with them.
“Being alone at Christmas time is particularly tough, so we wanted to invite any older people in the local area to come and spend Christmas with us as part of our community, as it’s always a superb day. We made a similar pledge last year which was well received, and we really hope that we can make a difference to people who feel lonely and isolated this Christmas.
“Anyone wanting to book a place should contact us now. They will enjoy a fantastic lunch, great company, music, Christmas games – and there might even be a visit from Santa!”

Czajka Care Group always puts a lot of emphasis on mealtimes, because for many residents they are a key part of the day that they look forward to. As a result, residents are regularly asked about their favourite foods, which will be incorporated into menus, and the family-run care company caters for all types of dietary requirements including vegans, vegetarians, diabetics, religious diets, and food intolerances.
Currergate Nursing Home occupies a prominent position on Skipton Road in Steeton, close to Airedale General Hospital. The Grade II listed building’s beautiful oak panelled lounge is the home’s social hub, where residents can relax, meet new friends, watch television, or listen to music. There’s also a large conservatory with patio doors, so residents can enjoy the fantastic terrace and four acres of grounds and gardens.
Nestled between Skipton and Keighley on Colne Road in Cross Hills, Beanlands Nursing Home is a grand building with delightful gardens. With two light-filled large lounges and a huge conservatory that offers lovely views of the immaculately kept grounds, Beanlands Nursing Home is a place where people always feel at home.

In addition to Currergate and Beanlands, Czajka Care Group also owns and operates Fairmount Nursing Home, Brookfield Care Home, and Staveley Birk Leas Nursing Home, which are all in Nab Wood near Shipley.
