Emerging technologies driving future economies across the region

Emerging technologies driving future economies across the region

Future technologies, such as industrial robots, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, are advancing swiftly.

The FTC is a network of specialist skills hubs linking regional and national employers, industry bodies, and training providers. Through these partnerships, the FTC ensures that curriculum and training programmes are designed for the constantly evolving needs of workforces in those sectors. These hubs specialise in:

  • Sustainable construction
  • Sustainable transport
  • Allied and medical health
  • Engineering
  • Digital
  • Science

The FTC Expo is an opportunity for regional employers across those sectors to exhibit. This is the second time the event has been held and hosted by Bradford College, who has joined forces with 60 employers across six industries to build the tech workforce for the next generation.

The event is aimed at engaging both school and college students and supporting them in their next career and study steps. This event will allow employers to meet school children and college students to inform them of the careers available to them locally.

Employers are given an opportunity present the new technologies they are embedding in businesses that will ensure the next generation are delivering the key developments in sustainability that are needed to make Bradford a City that attracts new business and retains talent.

The Expo will host a range of exciting demonstrations and hands-on experiences from a range of employers at the cutting edge of emerging technology. Attendees will have the opportunity to see first-hand the new technologies that are influencing careers and get a flavour of what their future could look like.

Who?

The Future Technologies Centre is a community of employers, industry and city leaders and futurists that collaborate to set the regional skills agenda with people, place, and community at our core.

As a group of employers, we are striving to ensure that future generations have access to career opportunities and that we are influencing Bradford College to deliver the skills and qualifications that are essential to a prosperous workforce.

Driven by the needs of employers, we create pathways into sustainable employment, higher education and enable in-work progression for existing professionals whilst also ensuring that the College curriculum is meeting regional skills needs.

Exhibitors

Our exhibitors will share their passion for building a more sustainable Bradford and how they are meeting the needs of our community.

Employers from various sectors will be on hand to talk to young people about the careers available in their industries, the new technologies that are being embedded into business and the next steps you will need to take in your career journey.

They will demonstrate the new technologies that are influencing careers and give students a flavour of what their future could look like.

Apprenticeships

Young people are also given the opportunity to meet Bradford College’s apprenticeship team to find out about apprenticeship options.

This includes the qualifications offered and why an apprenticeship offers a real opportunity to take steps into employment.

They will explain the application process and talk about the wider benefits of starting an Apprenticeship after college, as an alternative to Higher Education.
