Health & Social Care week to feature in Skills Month

Stidents in Bradford will have an opportunity to explore careers across the Health & Social Care sector this autumn.

As part of Skills Month for the first time, there will be a career’s fair at the University of Bradford open to secondary school, further and higher education students from across the district on Tuesday, October 11.

Organisers are hoping to create an experience that will help inform young people’s career choices as this is a great opportunity to inspire the Health & Social Care staff of tomorrow.

The event will address the career planning needs of students, supplement schools’ career programmes and help them meet the Gatsby benchmarks.

There will be a range of job roles showcased at the fair including; social care, nursing, occupational therapy, midwifery, pharmacy and medical technology.

Hannah Taylor, of Bradford Council’s Health and Social Care Economic Partnership (HSCEP), said: “We are working on some exciting plans for the fair – the team are all looking forward to sharing what it’s like to work in their roles and there will be plenty of opportunities to learn about the lesser known careers in the sector. Not everyone is a doctor, nurse or care home worker.”
