New applications for future Starbucks drive-thru submitted

THE next stage of plans to turn a vacant Bradford fast food restaurant into a Starbucks has been submitted.

Last summer, it was revealed that the coffee giant planned to open a new drive-thru branch in the former KFC unit off Tong Street.

Two new planning applications for the unit have now been submitted to Bradford Council.

One is to re-clad the building and create new doors and windows, while the other is for the installation of Starbucks signage around the site.

The application says the new business will create 10 full-time and 14 part-time jobs.

The Tong Street unit is one of three new Starbucks planned for Bradford.

Other branches will be based off Thornton Road and Valley Road.

The Telegraph & Argus asked Starbucks for information on when the new Tong Street branch might be opening.

A spokesperson for the company said: “While we are always looking for new locations and opportunities to bring the Starbucks experience to customers in the UK, we have no news to share about plans for Bradford at this time.”

A decision on the new applications is expected next month.
