Permission granted for sign manufacturing in city building

A BRADFORD business has been granted permission to use a storage building as part of its sign making operation.

Butterfield Signs, based in the city centre, had recently submitted a planning application for a building it had purchased – 8 Rebecca Street, near the junction with City Road.

It was to change the use of the 800 square metre building from storage and distribution to industrial use.

The application said: “Butterfield Signs Limited, whose main premises are located further down Rebecca Street and close to the application site, have acquired and utilised the building as part of their expanding manufacturing process for the past 20 years and are looking to invest new equipment at the site, and prior to doing so would like to ensure that the building use is lawful.

Plans for large industrial building are approved

“The building will continue to be utilised as part of the general sign making process which will include light fabrication and spray painting. The purpose of this application is to ensure lawful use of the building, and it is considered that the proposed change of use will not adversely impact on the surrounding area, or general vehicle movements into or out of the site.”

The application was approved by planning officers this week.
