Plan for storage units on edge of city centre approved

PLANS to build two large storage units in an Employment Zone on the edge of Bradford city centre have been approved.

Ansar Mehmood had submitted a planning application to build a 288 square metre unit and a 202 square metre unit on a currently vacant site off Rouse Fold.

The site is just off Wakefield Road, opposite St James Wholesale Market.

Businesses based around the site include a building materials supplier and an outdoor clothing store.

Controversial plan for shops and industrial units is withdrawn

Bradford Council’s Highways Department had said the plans for the new units would be acceptable on the condition that the units are used only for storage – and not for distribution.

Approving the plans this week, planning officers pointed out that the development would be in line with the site’s designation as an Employment Zone, and would help support local business.
