Supermarket giant invites public to suggest new Yorkshire sites

A popular supermarket chain has called on the public to help choose its next store locations.

Aldi is inviting shoppers across Yorkshire to suggest where new branches should open as part of its ongoing expansion plans.

Submissions will be reviewed by Aldi’s team as it works towards its long-term target of 1,500 locations nationwide.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “We know how important it is for people to have access to affordable, high-quality food close to where they live, which is why we’re asking our shoppers to help us identify the communities that would benefit most from a new Aldi store.

“Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay.”

Aldi is investing more than £370 million in new stores this year.

The company ran a similar scheme last year, with London, Merseyside, and Oxfordshire identified as priority areas.

To nominate a town or area, shoppers can email NextNewStore@aldi.co.uk, and simply state the town in the subject line.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Aldi plans to share the results and unveil the next round of priority locations later this year.
