Two Bradford Morrisons stores could soon start opening for 24 hours a day

BRADFORD based supermarket giant Morrisons has revealed plans to open two of its city stores for 24 hours.

The company has submitted applications to Bradford Council to vary the licences for its stores at the Victoria Shopping Centre on Thornton Road and on Bradford Road in Idle.

Both stores currently open from 7am to 11pm.

The licensing applications for both sites are to “extend permitted hours for the sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises Monday to Sunday 00.00 to 23.59.”

Morrisons unveil major change to all of their supermarkets across the UK

The Telegraph & Argus has contacted Morrisons several times in the past week for more details of the proposed changes in opening hours, but has yet to receive a response.

But a recent release from Bradford Liberal Democrats highlighting the proposed changes says: “Morrisons believes that moving forward, there will be significant customer demand to shop through the night in order that customers may maintain social distancing and the company is therefore seeking the variation to allow customers to shop when they feel most comfortable.”

People have until next Tuesday to comment on the plans.
