Two local textile firms support Wool Week 2020

TWO of the district’s textile manufacturers have collaborated with up-and-coming fashion designers to produce unique outfits in celebration of Campaign for Wool’s Wool Week 2020.

John Foster, based at Luxury Fabrics, in Bradford, and Laxtons Yarns in Baildon, have both been involved in the project.

John Foster has teamed up with Danielle Elsener to create a three-piece outfit in a combination of plain and pinstripe wool and mohair fabrics.

Her design is a short-sleeved button-down shirt, pair of shorts, and coaches jacket.

Yarn spinner Laxtons has teamed up with Jennifer Koch to produce a one-off knitwear piece using their Sheepsoft Aran range of natural-colour yarns.

The pattern is available to buy from the byLaxtons website for knitters to recreate at home.

The collaboration is part of an innovative project for Wool Week led by Future Fashion Factory, bringing together emerging fashion designers from the Royal College of Art with Yorkshire mills from Future Fashion Factory’s community of over 250 manufacturers, fashion designers, brands and more.

Claire Carey, sales manager of John Foster, said: “We are delighted to be involved in this project to celebrate wool week and to support emerging fashion designers of the future. Danielle is a true talent who deserves every success with her zero-waste design system A020, we will be following her progress with great interest!”

James Laxton, Managing Director of Laxtons, said: “We are delighted to be working with Jennifer for this years Wool Week and the garment she has produced looks amazing.”
