Visitors flock to Saltaire Apprenticeships Unlocked event

An apprenticeship recruitment event hosted by Shipley College attracted hundreds of visitors to Saltaire on Wednesday.

Apprenticeships Unlocked offered young people the chance to find out more about local apprenticeship opportunities and the many vacancies available across the Bradford district to connect companies with potential new employees.

Victoria Hall was filled with employers from sectors such as IT & Digital, Manufacturing, Public Services and Engineering, offering visitors a wide range of vacancies and careers to choose from.

Training providers such as SkillsHouse Bradford and the National Careers Service were also able to provide expert personalised advice to those looking into starting a career with an apprenticeship.

Local business ACS Group attended to give visitors a greater understanding of the apprenticeships they offer and said; “We are invested in supporting the best opportunities that can really change young people’s lives and break them into a sector that is quickly growing in this region. We are very enthusiastic about supporting and working with Shipley College.”

Visitor Natasha from Bingley said, “I see an apprenticeship as an opportunity for progress, I am excited to get involved with a workplace and get involved with learning whilst working.”

Wendy Rowan, Director of Apprenticeships at Shipley College explained,

“Apprenticeships are a great option for lots of learners – they can get hands-on experience in their preferred field, earn a salary and gain a valuable qualification all at the same time. We find that lots of our apprentices also end up being offered full-time employment, so this event is something we worked hard to publicise to our region’s young people.”

The event aims to be an annual networking and recruitment opportunity for people across the Bradford district and was held in collaboration with Keighley College, Bradford College, WYCC Collaborative Apprenticeships, European Social Fund, Bradford District CTE & SkillsHouse.
