Local hygiene chemicals manufacturer Christeyns UK has been helping schools in the area manage the new Covid-19 hand hygiene requirements, providing support in the huge task of keeping school premises as safe as possible.
Christeyns UK, with headquarters on Rutland Street, Bradford, has donated a number of products to local schools including non-alcohol and alcohol-based sanitisers and handwash.
“Businesses like ours need to support organisations within the city, to help look after and keep safe our young people, their teachers and in turn the wider community,” states Christeyns Managing Director Nick Garthwaite.
Since the start of the pandemic, Christeyns UK has worked to increase its supply of hand and surface sanitation products from its plants in Warrington, Whaley Bridge and Bradford. Its Phago’gel hand products are particularly suited to children’s hands, containing an emollient that is gentle on the skin, reducing the risk of potential irritation.
Oastlers School in Bradford is one school that has benefitted from the hygiene supplies. During lockdown the school set up a Care Hub that helped support vulnerable and key worker children each day, offering a range of activities including virtual cricket training.
Head Teacher Lyndsey Brown expressed her thanks to the team at Christeyns, confirming that the products were a great help in tackling the new hygiene standards and meant the children could enjoy their activities in a safe environment.
Christeyns is not a stranger to Oastlers School, having hosted two groups of students at its Rutland Street facility during last year’s Bradford Manufacturing Weeks.
Support of the community and in particular enhancing the current and future opportunities for young people, makes up a fundamental part of ‘The Christeyns Way’, a culture that crosses all departments of the company structure, focusing on employee development, wellbeing and engagement.
Christeyns staff members and apprentices regularly attend school fairs and events throughout the year to highlight the important role of the manufacturing industry and its future employment opportunities.
