Yorkshire Housing unveils ‘major investment’ to improve homes

Yorkshire Housing has announced a ‘major investment’ to make homes warmer, safer, and more energy efficient.

The YH Homes 2.0 programme will bring ‘significant improvements’, including triple glazing and flood-resistant doors in areas most at risk.

With the government setting new sustainability targets for housing associations and updating the Decent Homes Standard, Yorkshire Housing says it is taking a proactive approach by going beyond these requirements.

Sian Webster, executive director of growth and assets at Yorkshire Housing, said: “We know how important it is for people to feel safe, warm, and secure in their homes.

“That’s why we’re taking a long-term approach with YH Homes 2.0 – making improvements that don’t just meet today’s standards but set our homes up for the future.

“This investment is about delivering real benefits for our customers where they’re needed most.”

From April 2025, Yorkshire Housing will begin upgrading thousands of homes.

Planned improvements include new windows and doors, all triple glazed for better insulation and reduced energy costs.

Specialist flood doors will be installed in the most at-risk areas by the end of 2025.

Over 1,100 homes will receive new security and external lighting.

Bee bricks, providing nesting space for solitary bees, will be incorporated into roof replacements later in 2025 to support biodiversity.
