Supply partner to move 100 employees into vacant former Morrisons site in Bradford

A SUPPLY partner for a Bradford-based supermarket giant is set to move into a vacant site in Cutler Heights.

Morrisons announced today that Myton Food Group will be moving it headquarters to what was the Bradford-based supermarket’s first manufacturing site on Cutler Heights Lane.

The move will see Morrisons’ supply partner Myton move 100 employees to the site at the end of April.

A Morrisons spokesman said: “Myton Food Group is a strategic supply partner to Morrisons and other major retailers and food service customers and will be moving its headquarters to Cutler Heights from the end of this month.

“The move will see Myton starting up again in what was Morrisons first manufacturing site, with around 100 colleagues due to move across to the site.

“New business opportunities are starting up in Cutler for Myton, and we look forward to showcasing more of these in coming months.”

Cllr Matt Edwards (Tong – Green Party) welcomed the move to bring the vacant site back into use.

He said: “As a ward councillor I am excited to see that Myton Food Group will be moving into the vacant Morrisons site on Cutler Heights.

“Morrisons are such a key part of our local economy across Bradford and it’s great to see this announcement.

“All three Tong ward councillors are looking forward to meeting with Myton to hear what they have planned and what opportunities there will be for local people.”

The Cutler Heights site has been vacant since the second half of 2023 after Morrisons announced in July of that year that it would be stopping operations at the Bradford distribution centre.

Cutler Heights, which was the supermarket chain’s first-ever produce site, used to supply 59 fruit products and 115 million packs of fruit a year.

In July 2023, Morrisons said it would be “consolidating” and moving all operations to its other fruit packing site in Thrapston, Northamptonshire.

The move took place in the second half of 2023 and, at the time, put the jobs of 456 employees at the Cutler Heights site at risk of redundancy.

The supermarket giant Morrisons was bought by private equity giant Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) in 2021.
