Tesco customers in Bradford have donated more than 25,000 meals to help support those in need.
A total of 25,132 meals’ worth of long-life food items were given during the Tesco Winter Food Collection, held in West Yorkshire from November 24 to November 29.
Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK CEO, said: “As ever, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Tesco customers who have shown how much they value the hard work of our partners Trussell and FareShare in their local communities.”
The donations will support the work of food redistribution charities FareShare and Trussell.
In addition to food donations, more than £300,000 was raised through customers rounding up at the till and online contributions.
Kris Gibbon-Walsh, chief executive of FareShare, added: “Once again, the generosity of Tesco customers at the Winter Food Collection has been humbling.
“At a time when many people are forced to choose between keeping warm and eating, demand for these local charities’ services is higher than ever.”
