Businesses invited to Q&A on major town centre works

SOME Brighouse businesses are invited to a question-and-answer session next week with contractors undertaking major town centre work as part of the town’s £19.1 million Town Deal projects.

The event has been organised by Brighouse BID (business improvement district) and is only open to businesses who pay the BID levy.

Brighouse BID is hosting the “BID Brew” event with Esh Construction, who are undertaking the works which will take around 18 months to complete – they began in January.

The event will be held between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesday, April 29, at Brighouse Central Methodist Church, Commercial Street.

It should be noted the session is exclusively for businesses who pay the BID levy, says Brighouse BID.

“Representatives from Esh will once again be in attendance to answer any questions you may have in relation to the current Town Deal construction work in the town centre,” they say.

Levy-paying businesses who would like to attend should reply indicating this by emailing BID project manager Helen Holdsworth – helen.holdsworth@brighousebid.co.uk – and they can also submit any questions they may have beforehand via email to brighousetd@calderdale.gov.uk and the Esh team will aim to cover all the answers at the session.

Since work started, the BID are among support organisations  stepping up promotion that the town is very much “open for business.”

The latest works involve upgrading streets and public spaces with the aim of encouraging people to spend more time, more often, in Brighouse.

While these will ultimately benefit Brighouse, there is some inevitable disruption while work is carried out, for example road closures.

Work is being carried out in three phases, with each area being completed before going on to the next.

The board says schedules are being developed to minimise disruption to the everyday working of the town.

The first phase has focused on the west area of the town, taking in Commercial Street between Gooder Street and Park Street, Briggate between Thornton Square and Commercial Street, and Market Street, West Park Street and Ship Street, and is expected to run until summer.
