PROPOSED industrial action which was due to take place at Morrisons warehouses later this month has been called off.

The union Unite said the action, which was planned to be held in Wakefield and Northwich from June 13 to June 16, was called off after the Bradford-based supermarket chain made an “improved offer”.

According to Unite, hundreds of workers had been taking part in strike action over proposed changes to their pension contributions which union bosses claimed would have left them hundreds of pounds a year worse off.

Additional complaints surrounding pay and conditions were also part of the dispute.

Unite national officer Adrian Jones said today: “As a goodwill gesture, and following a new offer from Morrisons, we are suspending any planned strike action while we ballot our members.”
