Relaunch for organisation championing manufacturing sector

A TRADE body championing Keighley-district manufacturers is being relaunched next month.

Keighley Made was originally started in September, 2019, but foundered due to the pandemic.

Now the not-for-profit organisation is being rekindled, with a breakfast meeting at Keighley Golf Club on Wednesday, June 4.

Founding members Ex-Pressed Steel Panels, Fives Landis, Keighley College, Keighley Laboratories and Ian Brown will be represented at the event.

And they will be joined by companies including Teconnex, Acorn Stairlifts, Byworth Boilers, Spooner Industries, Fuel Storage Solutions, Platinum Stairlifts and Produmax.

Keighley Made chair Debbie Mellor, co-owner of Keighley Laboratories, says: “As a collective of dedicated manufacturers we’re coming together to forge a stronger, more resilient and innovative future for our sector.

“The incredible talent and expertise within our local manufacturing base has perhaps been understated in recent years – Keighley Made is here to change that. We are creating a dynamic hub where businesses can connect, share valuable knowledge and best practices, and collaboratively tackle the challenges and opportunities of a global marketplace.

“Our strength lies in our members. Keighley Made will be a driving force for continuous improvement, focusing on attracting and nurturing talent, championing effective skills training, boosting productivity and fostering robust local supply chains.

“By working together, we aim to not only strengthen individual businesses, but also enhance the reputation of Keighley as a leading manufacturing centre on the UK stage. We invite all stakeholders who share our passion for manufacturing excellence to join us.”

Clare Fitzgerald, group head of business development at Keighley College, says: “Our district is a manufacturing heartland with an industrial heritage few can match, and specialist businesses that consistently punch above their weight.

“Keighley Made’s mission will be to ensure this sector continues to flourish, as we forge ahead into an exciting future, by pooling our strengths and sharing best practice.

“At Keighley College we already work closely with many manufacturers to ensure we’re providing the talented students and apprentices that they and the local economy need. Keighley Made – along with our new engineering hub at Providence Park, which opens this September – will help us all collaborate even more effectively.”
